Brazil’s Ferrous Resources ships out first iron ore for export to Asia

Platt’s reports that Brazil’s Ferrous Resources shipped out 162,700 mt of sinter feed on April 10 from Sepetiba port in Rio de Janeiro state to Asia, its first export shipment of iron ore.

Platt’s reports that Brazil’s Ferrous Resources shipped out 162,700 mt of sinter feed on April 10 from Sepetiba port in Rio de Janeiro state to Asia, its first export shipment of iron ore.

The market news is quoted as saying,

It said in March it secured capacity to export 750,000 mt of iron ore through Sepetiba port this year, with the remaining to be sold domestically. Ferrous said it will produce 3 million mt of iron ore in 2011, higher than its March 3 estimate of 2.5 million mt. It is seeking to export 25 million mt/year of pellet feed, or concentrate, by 2014, and 62 million mt/year by 2016.
