Xplore Technologies (NASDAQ:XPLR) has announced that a broadband and wireless telecommunications company in the US has placed a $2.6 million follow-up order for its XSLATE D10 tablets.
As quoted in the press release:

It is the only fully rugged Android™ mobile device that offers full computing capabilities and the HDMI-in port technicians need to conduct high speed network quality tests at the time of install.

This latest order follows a $2.7 million order for XSLATE D10 “mobile office” bundles in August 2017 to support growth of this customer’s field-based Construction division technicians.

“This long-time Xplore customer was one of the first major carriers in the U.S. to offer fiber to the home, and they have consistently delivered industry-leading internet speeds for more than a decade,” explained Mark Holleran, president and CEO of Xplore. “By mobilizing their entire fiber optic division on the XSLATE D10, they’ve gained the tools they need to better manage network performance, and continuously improve service quality, at ground zero – in residents’ homes.”

The telecommunications provider first rolled out the Intel®-powered XSLATE D10 rugged tablet solution to more than 9,000 fiber optic service technicians in August 2016 as part of a division-wide effort to replace laptops and expand the highly mobile workforce’s computing capabilities. Xplore collaborated closely with this leading telco on the customization of the XSLATE D10 feature set, opting to equip the 10.1” tablet with an HDMI-in port that enables technicians to conduct high speed network quality tests for all video, voice, and internet offerings using a single mobile computing device.  As a result, the fiber optic service team can quickly perform expert installations and identify and resolve any network or equipment connectivity problems which reduces customer call backs and improves customer satisfaction.
