The global uranium giant operates the country’s sole uranium enrichment facility and supplies over half of the United States market and over a quarter of the world market.
USEC adamantly disagrees with the DOE’s assertion that the plant is not technologically prepared to commence commercial operations.
USEC CEO John Welch has written a letter to Obama requesting the government avoid what will be a “significant step backwards” as the company will be forced to demobilize the project, which could mean 2,000 lost jobs and the potential for more.
