Top 5 Gainers on the TSXV Last Week

Advanced Explorations, Canada Fluorspar, Red Tiger Mining, Atico Mining and Sandspring Resources saw the best gains on the TSX Venture last week.

Last week saw a number of junior resource companies on the Toronto Venture Stock Exchange gain in share prices. Below are the five with the greatest increases.

Advanced Explorations (TSXV:AXI)
Advanced explorations rose 130 percent last week. The Toronto-based company works mostly on its Roche Bay and Tuktu iron ore projects in the Melville Peninsula in Nunavut. In total, the company has 523,200 acres of land prospective for iron ore, copper, nickel, molybdenum, silver and gold. According to AXI, the Melville Peninsula is one of the world’s largest developing iron ore districts. Advanced Explorations has delineated more than 1 billion tons of iron in its two main projects, and continues to explore the areas adjacent to them.

Canada Fluorspar (TSXV:CFI)
Canada Fluorspar rose 33.3 percent last week. The company’s assets are 100 percent of Canada Fluorspar (NL) Inc., which holds interest in six mineral licenses and mineral rights to any future mine developments. It also has 50 percent interest in the company Newspar, which itself holds 100 percent interest in two mining leases and two surface leases. Fluorspar’s main focus is on developing a fluorite deposit in St. Lawrence, Newfoundland/Labrador. The company is also interested in reactivating existing underground fluorspar mines.

Red Tiger Mining Inc. (TSXV:RMN)
Red Tiger Mining gained 33.3 percent last week. Formerly known as Zaruma Resources Inc., the company is engaged in gold and copper exploration through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Minerales Libertad, S.A. de C.V. at San Antonio de la Huerta in Sonora, Mexico. It also holds the Sapuchi gold project and the Luz del Cobre copper project. All are located relatively close together, according to the company’s website, and all have been explored, showing great potential for production. Mining is in progress at the Luz del Cobre project, with a stockpile of 70,800 tons of ore at an average grade of 0.82 percent copper as of the end of 2011.

Atico Mining (TSXV:ATY)
Atico Mining rose 24.5 percent last week. It is a copper and gold exploration company focused on projects in Latin America. Its primary exploration project, the El Roble property, is a copper and gold mine in Colombia. The project consists of eight adjacent titles with a mine and surrounding exploration grounds. The mine produced approximately 4,000 wet metric tons of copper concentrate when it was in production. The company’s Colombian subsidiary, which it owns wholly, is Atico Mining Corporation Colombia S.A.S.

Sandspring Resources (TSXV:SSP)
Sandspring Resources increased 17.9 percent last week. The company is involved in exploring and developing mineral properties in the Republic of Guyana, concentrating on gold and related minerals. Its main exploration property is the Upper Puruni property, a claim block in western Guyana, consisting of many contiguous permits covering a total area of 184,693 acres, and five contiguous prospecting licenses totaling 57,997 acres. There is also a gold-copper deposit known as Toroparu, located within the boundaries of the Upper Puruni property.
