Last year, the spot price for U308 averaged about $62 per pound, but by May had fallen to $52. Monday, Ux Consulting’s spot price drop $1 to $47 per pound following TradeTech’s fifty cent cut to $47 on Friday. Both consulting firms have retained their long-term price at $65 per pound.
Analysts point to oversupply in the market due to reduced demand as reason for declining prices. Bart Jaworksi, analyst for Raymond James, says there seems to be some disagreement between buyers and sellers as to which direction spot prices will go next.
