Silver Up at $18.70 Following Last Week’s Lows

This morning, silver gained 0.7 percent, or $0.13, to trade at $18.70, according to Reuters. The rise came after the metal hit its lowest price since June 2013 on Friday.

Investors are waiting for the results of today’s Federal Reserve policy meeting, which will indicate when the US may increase its interest rates for the first time in eight years. The meeting will last until tomorrow, with an announcement scheduled for that day. If the Fed raises interest rates precious metals will likely become less appealing.
