Silver Rises to $21.74 per Ounce Ahead of Fed Meeting

Today, spot silver gained 0.2 percent, to $21.74 per ounce, after sinking 2.3 percent in the previous session, Reuters reported. Silver for December delivery, on the other hand, fell 18 cents, to $21.83 per ounce.

Prices were impacted by a weaker dollar as well as by the upcoming US Federal Reserve meeting. As with gold, traders avoided making big bets on the white metal ahead of the Fed’s two-day meeting, which begins today, MarketWatch reported. A decision regarding the central bank’s stimulus program is expected tomorrow.
