SantaCruz Silver Reports Pipeline Rupture at Rosario Project

Santacruz Silver Mining Ltd. (TSXV:SCZ) reported that a pipeline connecting the Rosario mine tailings impoundment to a secondary settling pond ruptured over the weekend.

Santacruz Silver Mining Ltd. (TSXV:SCZ) reported that a pipeline connecting the Rosario mine tailings impoundment to a secondary settling pond ruptured over the weekend. As a result, some water and tailings material was discharged outside of the tailings treatment system. Santacruz has notified all appropriate authorities.

As quoted in the press release:

The Company´s engineering team together with Mexico´s environmental authorities and tailings impoundment consultants are working to ensure appropriate remediation procedures are followed and to determine the cause of this incident. In the meantime, the Rosario Mine milling facility has been shut down. The milling facility will not resume production activities until appropriate remediation steps have been completed in accordance with the recommendations of the Company’s technical consultants and appropriate approvals have been received from regulatory authorities. The Company estimates the production shutdown will be two (2) weeks. The Company will update as more information becomes available.

Santacruz’s president, Arturo Préstamo, said:

Environmental matters are a priority for our Company and as such we are taking all necessary steps to properly address this incident and resume operations promptly.
