Northam Platinum Ltd. (JSE:NHM) announced that employees at its Zondereinde mine, located in Limpopo, embarked on a strike effective from the night shift on January 13.

Northam Platinum Ltd. (JSE:NHM) announced that employees at its Zondereinde mine, located in Limpopo, embarked on a strike effective from the night shift on January 13. However, Zondereinde’s smelter operations remain unaffected.

As quoted in the press release:

Zondereinde management is seeking to engage with representatives of the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) in an effort to understand the cause of the industrial action, and to expeditiously resolve the matter. Management has communicated with employees, and has sought an urgent application to the Labour Court for the action to be declared unprotected, and requiring employees to return to work.
