Narrowing Platinum-Gold Spread as Gold Remains at Premium

Kitco reported the spread between platinum and gold is narrowing as the price of platinum rises, although it seems unlikely platinum will overtake gold any time soon.

As quoted in the market news:

Historically platinum has had a price premium over gold, but that changed around late September last year when a poor world economic outlook pinched industrial metals like platinum and buyers sought gold for its safe-haven status or its role as an alternative currency. The discount platinum had to gold reached record lows as recently at early December, when it was cheaper than gold by more than $200 an ounce.
