Fewer injuries, but more deaths on SA mines

Mining Weekly reports that trade union Solidarity said that while the number of injuries on South African mines declined while fatalities increased.

The editorial is quoted as saying,

Statistics released by the union showed that injuries decreased by almost 38% from 1 126 last year to 711 in 2011. However, fatalities sharply increased by 21% with 47 lives claimed during the period.
