The commodities market appears to be moving towards fundamentals. Companies are off to a good start in profits. There is good momentum. But analysts warn recovery is on a slow and bumpy road.
The labor force increased by 11,000, which means that more Americans have resumed looking for employment. Moreover, in December too, consumer borrowing in the US declined less than anticipated, as Americans took out loans to buy cars. However, consumer spending, which accounts for about 70 per cent of the economy, will continue to be restrained, some analysts say, with most people wary of taking on more debt.
