Whitehaven Coal Opens Maules Creek Mine

Australian Mining reported that Whitehaven Coal Ltd. (ASX:WHC) has officially opened the Maules Creek mine, which has produced 94,000 tonnes of coal so far.

As quoted in the market news:

The project came online three months ahead of schedule and $25 million under budget, despite constant protests that aimed to halt its development.
