The Star Phoenix reported that, in light of the Obama administration’s recent announcement regarding coal emissions, Canadian crown corporation SaskPower is looking to take advantage of the demand for clean coal energy.

As quoted in the press release:

SaskPower’s $1.35-billion carbon capture and storage (CCS) project – the world’s first post-combustion, coalfired CCS project – is expected to come on stream this year, reducing CO2 emissions at Boundary Dam’s Unit 3 by one million tonnes per year – equivalent to taking more than 250,000 vehicles off the road annually.
