Mining Weekly reported that coal exports have become the second-largest earner for Mozambique, with exports during the first half of 2012 worth $196.4-million.

As quoted in the market report:

This helped boost the country’s exports to $1.8-billion, a 3.6% increase over the same period last year. The coal is currently coming from opera-tions in Tete province, namely Moatize and Benga.
