India Proposes Levy on Captive Coal Mining

Mining Weekly reported that the Coal Ministry in India is considering charging captive coal miners a levy to be paid to affected locals.

As quoted in the market news:

The levy would be applied per ton of coal mined for captive consumption and would be based on an average of 26% of profits to be shared by standalone coal mining companies as proposed under the new profit-sharing law being framed by the Indian government.
