Coal Shortage May Hurt India Power Production

Marketwatch reported on India’s shortage of domestic coal supply.

The editorial is quoted as saying:

Coal India, the world’s largest coal producer, meets more than 80% of the country’s dry-fuel requirement and any fluctuation in its supply affects power generation. It cut its production target three times in the last financial year and is now targeting a production of 452 million metric tons this year, 7% less than its original aim.
