Coal Merger is Back On the Cards

Sydney Morning Herald reported that talks of a merger between Aston Resources (ASX:AZT) and Whitehaven Coal (ASX:WHC) have resumed.

As quoted in the market news:

Whitehaven has several coal mines in production in the Gunnedah basin north-west of Newcastle and is developing more, while Aston is seeking to develop the Maules Creek mine, with analysts stressing the operational benefits of any merger.
