The market news is quoted as saying,

The stones, which can aid researchers who are developing everything from electronics to synthetic diamonds, were presented Thursday by Ron Harder, former president and chief executive officer of Jewelers Mutual to Jeffrey Post, curator of the national gem and mineral collection at the Smithsonian. The collection, which totaled 871 stones weighing 500 carats, was acquired by Jewelers Mutual, which insures jewelry and the jewelry industry, about 10 years ago.
