Beware of Zimbabwean Diamonds, Baird Warns

The Vancouver Sun reports that Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird has warned Canadian gem traders to be wary of diamonds from Zimbabwe.

The market news is quoted as saying,

Rough diamonds from Zimbabwe have been certified for international sale under the Kimberley Process — the global system created to end the trade in blood diamonds — in a highly controversial move that has brought the scheme to the brink of collapse.
