The Wall Street Journal reported that of the 24 people arrested in connection with a major diamond heist that took place at the Brussels airport in February, Belgian authorities have charged eight.
As quoted in the market news:
Of the two-dozen people arrested near Brussels on Wednesday in raids by some 250 police, 10 were brought before a judge and two were released, said spokesman Jean-Marc Meilleur. The other 14 people were released late Wednesday, he said.
The Belgian arrests were made as part of a three-country sweep late Tuesday and early Wednesday in which Belgian, French and Swiss police detained 33 people, of whom 11 remain in custody. Within five days, a Belgian judge will decide whether the eight people formally charged will be held in prison for one month as the investigation continues, Mr. Meilleur said
