Mining Weekly reported that according to John Teeling, head of ALROSA (MCX:ALNU), his company anticipates the discovery of a new diamondiferous kimberlite in Botswana by December.

As quoted in the market news:

Speaking at the thirteenth Botswana Resource Sector Conference here, Teeling noted that Alrosa made use of electrical impulses rather than magnetics and approached solid sampling differently.

Teeling said the approach speeded up exploration by bringing mobile mineral-analysis laboratories on to site.

Currently the world’s largest diamond company, Alrosa has been partnering Teeling’s Africa-focused Botswana Diamonds on several programmes, using the technology that helped the Russian company discover 19 diamond mines in Siberia.

Teeling commented:

We want to find a kimberlite. They believe explicitly that they can find a diamondiferous kimberlite and their analysis indicates that they will find a diamondiferous kimberlite by Christmas.
