    USEC Considering Shutting Down Kentucky, Ohio Facilities

    Platts reported USEC (NYSE:USU) said it is likely to close its Kentucky plant and the future of its Ohio facility is uncertain.

    Platts reported USEC (NYSE:USU) said it is likely to close its Kentucky plant and the future of its Ohio facility is uncertain.

    As quoted in the market news:

    The financially struggling company is in dire need of $300 million in government funding to keep alive its American Centrifuge Plant in Piketon, Ohio. At for its older gaseous diffusion plant in Paducah, Kentucky, USEC has said it may end operations there in May when its power contract runs out, due to its high energy costs and lower demand for the low enriched uranium produced there.
