Telluride Daily Planet reports on the uranium sector and will it be the fuel of the future.

America is just pulling out of its worst recession since the Great Depression, and that’s put a damper on just about everything, from real estate to designer shoes. So it’s no surprise that uranium is down.

What does the future hold?

Just this week, the Obama Administration announced that it would import nuclear materials from other countries to keep it safe from terrorists. But it might also be processed into nuclear fuel. That’s another development that may depress uranium mining further in America.

But, on the other hand, a Canadian company is asking for a permit to mine uranium in Weld County. And several industry groups predict a sharp rise in uranium in the near future.

Stills sees it as a fuel of the past: “Uranium doesn’t make any sense anymore.”

Sanderson sees it differently: “It’s definitely the fuel of the future.”
