SMH reported a uranium mine project is pushing ahead despite the potential for the anti-uranium Labor party taking control of the state in March.

As quoted in the market news:

There are currently no uranium mines in WA but the Liberal state government in 2008 lifted a six-year ban on them that had been imposed by the previous Labor government.

Labor remains opposed to uranium mining but will not block any planned uranium mine that has received approvals if it wins the 2013 state election.

The only project in the state that could be advanced to that stage by the election is Toro Energy’s Wiluna project in central WA.
