This Halloween, Trick or Treat for Hathor Boss Mike Gunning?
Mining Weekly reported on the expiry of Cameco’s (TSE:CCO) C$520-million offer for Hathor Exploration (TSE:HAT).
Mining Weekly reported on the expiry of Cameco’s (TSX:CCO) C$520-million offer for Hathor Exploration (TSX:HAT).
The press release is quoted as saying:
It’s the day after the expiry of Cameco’s unfriendly C$520-million offer for his company, which has already received a frosty reception from the target.
“Somehow, that’s appropriate for me,” he joked about the date in an interview on Tuesday.
The potential deal didn’t start off on a good footing, the way that Gunning tells it.
He said he only received a friendly offer from the world’s biggest uranium producer at 16:00 on August 19, a Friday afternoon, via email.
“It said: ‘Here’s the offer, it expires in 48 hours on Sunday night, if we don’t have acceptance from the board, we are prepared, and have planned, for alternative scenarios,” Gunning recounted to Mining Weekly Online.
