Australian Mining reported that Woodside Petroleum (ASX:WPL) have discovered a new gas off the West Australian coast.

As quoted in the market news,

The Pyxis-1 exploration well has intersected 18.5 metres of net gas in Jurassic sandstone 15 kilometres north of Barrow Island, with a total depth of 3347 metres.

Woodside executive VP global exploration Philip Loader said the new discovery had potential to be tied back to the existing Pluto infrastructure thanks to the close location to Barrow Island, which lies in the WA-34-L production licence.
