As quoted in the market news:

Crude oil for January delivery increased $1.41, or 1.5 percent, to $98.18 a barrel at 1:41 p.m. on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Futures touched the highest level since Nov. 17. Prices have risen 7.4 percent this year.
