BP’s appeal about how a claims administrator is paying settlements for its Gulf oil spill has been rejected by the U.S. Supreme Court.

According to 4WWL News:

BP has argued that court-appointed claims administrator Patrick Juneau was paying “absurd” claims of businesses whose losses were not due to BP’s 2010 Gulf oil spill, but U.S. District Judge Carl Barbier found that Juneau was simply using a formula laid out in BP’s settlement agreement with private individuals and businesses.

According to a statement issued by co-lead counsel Stephen J. Herman and James P. Roy:

Today’s ruling is a huge victory for the Gulf, and should finally put to rest BP’s two-year attack on its own settlement.
