Rare Earths Shortages Could Exacerbate U.S. Foreign Policy Risks, Congress Told

Mineweb reported that the US Congress has been advised that the United States should pursue more domestic production of rare earths.

The market news is quoted as saying:

 “The U.S. must roll up its sleeves and get to building its own domestic rare earth manufacturing supply chain,” [Molycorp CEO] Smith advised. He recommended that the U.S. “take a page out of China’s strategic playbook and leverage its rare earth resources to attract manufacturing that relies upon these critical materials.”
