Stocks of rare earth investments have recently been soaring in response to questions about export policies of China, which currently controls more than 95 percent of global production of rare earths. The end of the unacknowledged embargo coincided with statements by US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton that she would discuss rare earths with Chinese officials during a meeting on China’s Hainan Island on Saturday.
