Afghanistan Holds Significant Rare Earth Deposits

Industry Week reported that Afghanistan’s Helmand Province could contain 1 million metric tons of REEs.

The area contains a major potential source of light rare earth elements, including lanthanum, cerium and neodymium, according to a USGS study funded by the Department of Defense’s Task Force for Business and Stability Operations.
