SQM Halts Operations Due to Chile Floods

Sociedad Química y Minera de Chile S.A. (NYSE:SQM) announces Thursday that it had halted its operations in the north of Chile due to rains and flooding. Operations were halted as a preventative measure, and the company reported that there have been no injuries or damages to facilities so far.

Sociedad Química y Minera de Chile S.A. (NYSE:SQM) announces Thursday that it had halted its operations in the north of Chile due to rains and flooding. Operations were halted as a preventative measure, and the company reported that there have been no injuries or damages to facilities so far.

As quoted in the press release:

The facilities involved are María Elena, the port of Tocopilla, Coya Sur, Pedro de Valdivia and the Salar

de Atacama. Our operations at Nueva Victoria, located in the Tarapacá region, are operating normally.
Road conditions have made it difficult to transport our workers to and from the mine sites. The Company is taking
care of workers’ needs at the facilities while we wait for conditions to improve, so that normal transportation can
resume.

The Company is also helping its workers in the city of Antofagasta who have been affected by the storm.
Administrative offices were closed for electrical repairs on Thursday.
