S. Korea’s LG Chem Plans to Start US Lithium Battery Plant in Mid-2013

Reuters reported that LG Chem will begin production at its lithium ion battery cell manufacturing plant in the US by July or August amid slow demand for electric vehicles.

As quoted in a Reuters news article:

With U.S. government funding worth over $150 million, LG Chem has constructed a $304 million lithium-ion battery cell manufacturing plant in Michigan, aiming to produce enough battery cells annually to equip 60,000 electric vehicles by the end of 2013.
