Alabama Graphite Corp. (CNSX:ALP,US:ABGPF) released the initital assay results from the 2012 sonic drill program at the Coosa Graphite Project in Alabama. Initial drilling consisted of diamond core drilling and a total of 493.3 meters (1,618.5 feet) were drilled in 45 sonic holes.

As quoted in the press release:

Initial drilling at the Coosa Project consisted exclusively of diamond core drilling. To improve recoveries through the upper weathered and unconsolidated oxidized zone, two sonic drills were mobilized to the project site in mid-November by Major Drilling. In addition to pre-collaring the holes through the oxidized zone, the Company also re-drilled the upper portions of previous holes. A total of 1,618.5 feet (493.3 meters) were drilled in 45 sonic holes.

Alabama Graphite Corp. CEO, Dan Spine said:

A unique attribute to the Alabama Graphite Schist is its past production from the oxidized zones at surface. We employed the sonic rigs in November to optimize our recoveries in this zone. These are the first assays received from this program. These are excellent results. We can identify graphite-bearing rock from surface in all these holes and show continuity with the graphitic layer already processed in the rock beneath.
