US Zinc Production Up 19 Percent in Q1 2014

Mineweb reported that according to the US Geological Survey, US recoverable zinc mine production hit 207,000 metric tons in the first quarter of this year, up 19 percent from the year-ago quarter.

Mineweb reported that according to the US Geological Survey, US recoverable zinc mine production hit 207,000 metric tons in the first quarter of this year, up 19 percent from the year-ago quarter.

As quoted in the market news:

U.S. smelter, refined zinc production was 53,900 metric tons during the first quarter of this year.

Total recoverable zinc production for March 2014 was 70,600 metric tons, up from 56,000 metric tons in March 2013. Smelter, refined zinc production was 18,000 metrics tons in March of this year, down from 18,900 metric tonnes a year ago.

U.S. consumption of refined zinc was 237,000 metric tons in the first quarter of 2014 including 189,000 metric tons of refined zinc imports.
