Bloomberg reports that Minmetals (HKG:1208) has agreed to purchase assets from MMG, including Century Zinc mines in Australia, as well as the Sepon copper and gold mine in Laos, for $1.85 B.
The story is quoted as saying:
The deal will allow investors to own a share in Century, the world’s largest zinc mine, for the first time since OZ Minerals Ltd. sold it and the other assets for $1.35 billion in 2009 to reduce debt during the global financial crisis. Minmetals, which trades metals and distributes aluminum and copper products, will be led by MMG Chief Executive Officer Andrew Michelmore as part of the deal.
