Fancamp Exploration Reports High-grade Zinc Discovery
Fancamp Exploration Ltd. (TSXV:FNC) announced that trenching completed this past week at its NNE-trending fault corridor in Gaspe, Quebec encountered a “massive to semi massive sphalerite enclosed in strongly silicified siltstone.”
Fancamp Exploration Ltd. (TSXV:FNC) announced that trenching completed this past week at its NNE-trending fault corridor in Gaspe, Quebec encountered a “massive to semi massive sphalerite enclosed in strongly silicified siltstone.” That type of mineralization has not previously been seen in the district, and the zone is about 2 meters wide.
As quoted in the press release:
A grab sample from this zone returned a zinc value of 25%. In addition, immediately to the west of this occurrence in the trench, the host siltstone contains 30-40% sulphide bearing quartz veinlets. Further assays are awaited.
The Fancamp property cover some 12 kilometres of the Harriman fault structure, a splay of the Grand Pabos Fault system. Locally, along this corridor, prospecting has outlined clusters of angular mineralized boulders containing quartz veining in silicified fine grained sedimentary rocks of the Garin and Whitehead Formations which have yielded gold values in grab samples up to 29.5 gpt Au.
Further trenching is planned to ascertain the extent of this new zinc occurrence.
