Vale Restarts Operations at Onca Puma Nickel Mine

Reuters reported that major miner Vale SA (NYSE:VALE) has received an order allowing it to restart operations at its Brazil-based Onca Puma nickel mine.
Vale was ordered to halt operations at the mine back in August after a Brazilian federal court said, among other things, that it had to demonstrate the actions it’s taken to compensate local communities.
As quoted in the market news:

A federal court last month ordered operations stopped due to a dispute over payments to local indigenous communities.
Vale said in an email to Reuters that a court order for the company to pay the indigenous communities $796 000 had also been suspended.
