Sirius Resources NL (ASX:SIR) announced that the Ngadju claim group, which is the traditional custodian of the land covered by the company’s Nova nickel project, has agreed to material terms to provide the consent necessary for the granting of Mining Lease M28/376.
As quoted in the press release:
It is anticipated that the definitive agreement will be finalised by mid-2014. The finalisation of the agreement is a prerequisite for the granting of the Mining Lease.
Through this agreement, the Ngadju Group will share in the benefits of the development of the Nova mine via a variety of initiatives.
Dr. Mark Bennett, managing director of Sirius, commented:
I would like to acknowledge the Ngadju people as traditional custodians of the land. I have the utmost respect for them and the manner in which they are conducting this process, and I firmly believe that we can work together to create a lasting legacy that will be of benefit to all.
