North American Nickel Inc. (TSXV:NAN) announced that it has started regional exploration drilling of mineralized norite targets at its Greenland-based Maniitsoq project. It has also begun a focused mapping program.

As quoted in the press release:

Drilling continues at the Imiak Hill Conduit Complex (IHCC) with one drill rig and a second drill rig is now testing regional exploration targets. A total of 3,000 m of exploration drilling is planned to test approximately fifteen widely spaced targets located throughout the Maniitsoq property. The targets have been identified from compilation and analysis of the Company’s airborne, surface and borehole electromagnetic surveys as well as historical geological data and include the Pingo target area located 25 kilometers northwest of IHCC and the Fossilik target area located 8 kilometers southwest of IHCC. Anomalous nickel sulphide mineralization is known to occur at both Pingo and Fossilik from surface sampling carried out by the Company as well as from historic exploration results. Drill testing of regional targets is a key element in the Company’s efforts to identify and prioritize prospective sulphide-bearing noritic intrusions for more detailed exploration.
