Norilsk Nickel (MCX:GMKN) took part in a CSR conference on issues facing indigenous minorities of the northern regions.
Norilsk Nickel (MCX:GMKN) took part in a CSR conference on issues facing indigenous minorities of the northern regions. The conference was organized by the Public Chamber of Russian Federation at its premises jointly with the structural divisions of the UN.
As quoted in the press release:
MMC Norilsk Nickel was represented at the event by the head of Charity Programs Division of its Social Policy Department, Igor Sukhotin, who gave a report on social partnership and development in Taimyr region. He emphasized that in 2013 alone the Company’s social spending associated with implementation of Taimyr projects totaled RUB 9,1 million, which includes RUB 3,5 million allocated specifically towards IMNR projects.
Head of Charity Programs Division of its Social Policy Department, Igor Sukhotin stated:
The Company has a lot of respect for IMNR’s eagerness to preserve their centuries-old lifestyle and will support them in this undertaking. At the same time, we need to keep in mind that Taimyr’s IMNRs also need access to good living conditions which are more in line with the demands of modern society. We always try to keep in contact with the local community to make sure we can strike the right balance between these two opposites.
