New Caledonia Okays Restart of Vale’s Goro Nickel Plant

Reuters reported that the New Caledonian government plans to let Vale SA (NYSE:VALE) restart operations at its Goro nickel plant as early as today. Activity was suspended at the plant three weeks ago following a leak of acid-tainted effluent.

As quoted in the market news:

An independent expert report submitted earlier this week to the local province said it was not opposed to the restart of the operations.

Vale could not be immediately reached for comment.
