Guatemala Awards 2 Mining Licenses to Nickel Companies

Base Metals Investing Bloomberg reported that the Energy and Mines Ministry in Guatemala has awarded mining licenses to Minera San Rafael S.A and Compania Guatemalteca de Niquel, S.A. Both companies will mine for nickel and other precious metals.

As quoted in the market news:
Minera San Rafael S.A., which will mine for gold, silver nickel and cobalt, forecasts annual production around $400 million. The Compania Guatemalteca de Niquel, S.A., which will mine for nickel, cobalt and iron, has invested $380 million in the project to date, according to the ministry.
