Global miner BHP Billiton (BHP.AX) (BLT.L) reported that it has suspended operations at part of its Nickel West mining complex in west Australia after a miner died in an accident there at the weekend.
Global miner BHP Billiton (BHP.AX) (BLT.L) reported that it has suspended operations at part of its Nickel West mining complex in west Australia after a miner died in an accident there at the weekend.
The press release is quoted as saying:
The accident on Sunday is the third major incident at the complex over the past 10 months after two rock falls last year forced BHP Billiton to shut operations for several weeks. The Nickel West complex produced about 36,000 tonnes of nickel in the December quarter.
