Base Metals Investing Platts reported Western Areas (TSX:WSA,ASX:WSA) has produced the first parcel of high grade nickel ore from its Spotted Quoll stage-one underground mine.

As quoted in the market news:
Production is expected to ramp up steadily over the next few months, said Western Areas. The company is conducting a scoping study to evaluate the potential of increasing Spotted Quoll’s production rate from the current target of 10,000 mt/year nickel in ore to up to 15,000 mt/year. Results of the study are expected to be announced next month.
