The editorial is quoted as saying:
The Labrador Trough is a 1,600 km long and 160 km wide geological structure extending south-southeast from Ungava Bay on the north through Québec and Labrador and southwestward into central Québec. The trough comprises early Proterozoic sedimentary and volcanic rocks highlighted by banded iron formations that have been mined since 1954.
