Two Bodies Recovered From Landslide at Glencore's Katanga Mine

Following a geotechnical failure at an open pit mine run by Glencore’s (LSE:GLEN) Katanga Mining in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Glencore announced Tuesday that two bodies have been recovered from the open pit. In total, seven people were missing at the time of the landslide, and search and rescue operations continue for the remaining five.

Katanga has set up two emergency rooms to support the search and rescue operations. A separate support and counselling centre for the families of the affected individuals has been placed in Kolwezi town, which is located close to the operations.
All relevant authorities have been informed and Katanga is working closely with them. Further updates will be issued as appropriate.
