Equinox Copper Corporation (TSXV:EQX) announced the completion of the first three drill holes of its 16-hole drill program at its Binghampton Copper Queen (BCQ) volcanogenic massive sulfide (VMS) project near Prescott, Arizona.

As quoted in the press release:

Following Phase I – where the Company was seeking to gain a better understanding of the copper oxide and sulfide mineralization on the Copper Queen Trend – Phase II is being conducted to target the shallow copper oxide mineralization already encountered in Phase I at depths of less than 50 metres from surface on the property. Of note, both the Phase I and Phase II drilling concentrate on an area which includes the past-producing Copper Queen mine.

Equinox Copper CEO Corey Dias said:

We are pleased to have commenced Phase II of our drill program at BCQ. Following the success of Phase I – where we intersected shallow copper oxide mineralization – we are now focused on determining the extent of the shallow copper oxides on the Copper Queen trend. We believe that Phase II, if successful, could provide a basis for the potential delineation of a copper oxide resource, although further drilling would need to occur in order to make that determination.
