Scotiabank: PotashCorp Should Take a Run at Intrepid Potash
The Globe and Mail reported on a recent note from Scotiabank, in which analyst Ben Isaacson suggested that Potash Corp. of Saskatchewan (TSX:POT) should acquire Intrepid Potash (NYSE:IPI).
The Globe and Mail reported on a recent note from Scotiabank, in which analyst Ben Isaacson suggested that Potash Corp. of Saskatchewan (TSX:POT) should acquire Intrepid Potash (NYSE:IPI).
As quoted in the publication:
Potash Corp. could shut Intrepid’s muriate-of-potash business and transfer production to Canada while continuing to run Intrepid’s specialty potash business, Isaacson said. The analyst still has a sell recommendation on Intrepid’s stock, however. He said a transaction probably won’t materialize for a year as Saskatoon, Saskatchewan-based Potash Corp. needs to become “comfortable with antitrust risk” and potash prices may continue to fall.
